Created in 1985, the CREN, Centre de Recherche en Éducation de Nantes (Nantes Centre for Educational Research), is the educational research laboratory of the Universities of Nantes and Le Mans. Recognized by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research since 1995, it develops research on the design of educational courses, multilingualism, education policies, quality of life at school, learning, and values in education. A multidisciplinary laboratory, the CREN brings together some 50 researchers in Educational Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Computer Science, Language Sciences and Information and Communication Technologies, as well as 70 PhD students.
